Uses for Different Types of Hedge Trimmers

There are three main types of hedge trimmers. Picking out the right hedge trimmer will ensure an easier job maintaining your lawn and shrubbery. Single-sided hedge trimmers are great for places where you need to make a straight cut. They generally have very long blades so they are great for big projects that don't need a lot of small intricate cutting or shaping. It is lightweight, at least compared to other hedge trimmer styles, and is meant to clip large areas of shrubs in a single smooth movement.

Pole hedge trimmers are perfect for jobs that are very high or very low. You can cut items up high without the use of a ladder with a pole hedge trimmer, and it works great on ground cover as well. These usually have adjustable handles and their blades can be angled which make them very versatile hedge trimmers.

The double sided hedge trimmer is meant to cut bushes at chest height. It also has adjustable angle blades, thus it is a good choice when you need to create shapes or maintain existing designs. They tend to be a little heavier then a single sided hedge trimmer but often have and adjustable back handle that helps off set this.

Save Your Bird Feeders From Squirrels

Squirrels have long been seen at the scourge of backyard bird feeders. Most bird feeders sold today come with built in squirrel guards to try and deter the backyard rodents from eating all the bird seed. Squirrels however are very inquisitive creatures and, given enough time and enough motivation, most squirrels can figure out how to get to the bird food. Squirrels cannot only consume a great deal of bird seed they can also destroy bird feeders trying to get to it. Squirrel food is a good way to curb this. By leaving easy-to-get squirrel food out for them you discourage them from trying to dismantle your bird feeders to get at the bird seed. Squirrel feeders are gaining in popularity and can be found at most home and garden stores.

Squirrel food should be placed away from your existing bird feeders to help draw the squirrels away. Squirrel food should also not be placed near doors or windows because squirrels are strong enough to come through screens if they are excited. They can also cause damage to house trim if you lure them in too close to your home.

Squirrels can be a lot of fun to watch. They are very playful, silly animals that your family will have countless hours of enjoyment watching.
